Episode 29

Mid-Season Review | The Circuit Team

This week we have all four hosts of the Circuit Magazine Podcast in the same room at the same time… an event as rare as a solar eclipse! And you might need those shades because while the sun is beating down on the northern hemisphere, we thought we would catch up with Phelim, Shaun, Jon and Elijah between operational commitments for a mid-year roundup.

In this week’s show the team not only reflects on the first half of the new podcast season but we also discuss what it means to be an operationally active protector, how we juggle work commitments, and how we blindsided Shaun to unknowingly become a guest on his own podcast!

Join the team for this light-hearted look back over the past 6 months while we share:

• What each host’s top 3 podcast episodes have been at the midway point.

• What we’ve learned by starting a podcast.

• The balance between being a ‘grey man’ for operational purposes while being a figurehead in the industry.

• The importance of reviewing and purging your social media and why we should learn from industry mishaps while avoiding criticism.

Elijah:

Everyone holds themselves to a high standard.

Elijah:

We try and make sure that we deliver, to our audience, a very professional

Elijah:

product, and one that can.

Elijah:

Influence the industry in the right direction, it's, guys

Elijah:

that, care about what they do.

Elijah:

And they put blood, sweat in tears and and we're very interested in how those

Elijah:

things are related to the community

Phelim:

So we've reached a halfway point for the circuit magazine podcast.

Phelim:

And in the house today, we have the one and then only Elijah shore,

Phelim:

John MOS, Sean West and myself.

Phelim:

Of course, we're all here all on at the same time.

Phelim:

What a treat.

Phelim:

We're gonna look back on the last six months.

Phelim:

What a.

Phelim:

Beautiful series of podcasts we have had thank you to you, the guests and

Phelim:

the audience for making it all possible.

Phelim:

Let's start off with you Elijah.

Phelim:

Instead of my three quickfire questions, let's just PL out

Phelim:

three standout episodes for you.

Phelim:

I,

Elijah:

it.

Elijah:

Well, um, first of all, I think the, the best episodes were the

Elijah:

ones I weren't, I wasn't on.

Elijah:

So I don't know how I feel about that.

Elijah:

But my, my, my top episode, however, was.

Elijah:

With, uh, Joe attor and, you know, Joe's a great guy.

Elijah:

I, I, I was, um, happy to be on that episode, that particular episode, uh, he's

Elijah:

just got a, he's a found to the knowledge.

Elijah:

He knows how to communicate it really well.

Elijah:

And the feedback I got from others in the community, you know, again, Joe's

Elijah:

been in the game for, for quite a while.

Elijah:

So, uh, he's able to kind of, uh, kind of, you know, give you that the, the secrets

Elijah:

to success, but put it in such a way.

Elijah:

You know, the average listener, get some takeaways, get their attention sparked

Elijah:

or get their curiosity sparked, and then they can kind of seek out other means

Elijah:

in order to do a deeper dive, which is one of the wonderful things I think

Elijah:

about the circuit media in general.

Elijah:

Um, and that includes the magazine, the podcast, the apps is that you

Elijah:

get this taste of something and then you can go in much deeper.

Elijah:

Uh, and then when we're outside of.

Elijah:

The interview we had with Claus and this speaks to our international base.

Elijah:

So I wasn't on that.

Elijah:

And I've had the opportunity to interact with him over the, um, over the app

Elijah:

and getting a chance to, to listen to him again, that's subject matter

Elijah:

expertise, someone who's in a different part of the world than me and see how.

Elijah:

They have common experiences, but then also where those divergencies slide

Elijah:

and they can kind of split off and, you know, you just, you just learn

Elijah:

something new and, and that's something I think is, is, is really good.

Elijah:

And then, and then here's my next one.

Elijah:

And no, one's paid me to say this, but we had a podcast

Elijah:

that featured Sean West on it.

Elijah:

And, um, and having the ability to listen to him, talk about himself or some of

Elijah:

the things he does as opposed to ask the questions I thought was a treat as.

Phelim:

Absolutely.

Phelim:

And no one, no one, uh, paid you, but I'm sure it'll, it'll come your way soon.

Elijah:

accept Bitcoin, Sean.

Elijah:

So, um, feel free to drop those in

Phelim:

absolutely.

Phelim:

Well, uh, so that's, that's great.

Phelim:

But what, what about you give the audience a flavor about how you've grown developed.

Phelim:

What's been going on these last six months for you.

Elijah:

Well, I, I think I learned how to be a try and be a better

Elijah:

podcaster in the last six months.

Elijah:

Uh, you know, the big challenge for me is always the fact that, uh, I,

Elijah:

I work operationally in the field.

Elijah:

I also run my company and then I participate with you

Elijah:

guys in the circuit media.

Elijah:

And so trying to balance all those things, sometimes a challenge and

Elijah:

is sometimes a challenge, but it's a fun challenge and the opportunity.

Elijah:

And I always say this to people, the opportunity.

Elijah:

To work with and alongside people that you genuinely like is one

Elijah:

of the highlights of any career.

Elijah:

And I mean that in, in the different aspects that, that I do it.

Elijah:

So I've, I've reached a point where the clients that I work

Elijah:

with, I choose to work with them.

Elijah:

The, the staff that I work with, those are guys that I would spend time.

Elijah:

On and off the, the assignment and the same thing with you guys at the circuit

Elijah:

media is, you know, we laugh and tell jokes and, and crack jokes on each other.

Elijah:

Uh, when, when we're not on, you know, we're not on the

Elijah:

microphone and we're not on camera.

Elijah:

And so then being able to put a project together, um, that's, you know, that's

Elijah:

a serious project and has benefit for the community, but that's enjoyable.

Elijah:

And that's despite the deadlines and the rush schedules and all the other things

Elijah:

that we have to do in, in both our.

Elijah:

Home and, and our professional in our personal lives, uh, I think

Elijah:

is it's kind of a Testament.

Elijah:

So the, the last six months for me to answer your question has just been

Elijah:

learning better, how to balance that, uh, how to deliver a quality work product.

Elijah:

And, and that's the other thing that I wanna say it's kind of

Elijah:

tipping my hat to, to all three of you, gentlemen are here is.

Elijah:

Everyone holds themselves to a high standard.

Elijah:

And so even with the things that we have going on, we try and make sure

Elijah:

that we deliver, to our audience, a very professional product,

Elijah:

and one that we think that can.

Elijah:

Influence the industry in the right direction, you know,

Elijah:

offer the things that we say.

Elijah:

So it's not just lip service.

Elijah:

It's not just like a marketing tool.

Elijah:

It's, you know, it's guys that, you know, care about what they do.

Elijah:

And they put blood, sweat in tears and have done it for quite a while in

Elijah:

terms of, uh, putting something out.

Elijah:

But we don't produce content just for content's sake.

Elijah:

We produce it.

Elijah:

And, and the people that we bring on this show and the guests, you

Elijah:

know, all of these are, are people that we're genuinely interested in.

Elijah:

And we think that the.

Elijah:

Things would be interested in as well.

Elijah:

And if something doesn't work, we try and readjust and pivot

Elijah:

and, and strategize about it.

Elijah:

And, and those are wonderful things.

Elijah:

It's not just, so much of, of media these days, it's based off an algorithm and

Elijah:

it's based off of monetizing something and figuring out how you can get a return

Elijah:

on the dollar for something versus.

Elijah:

Uh, the love of whatever that, that, that, or the interest of whatever that topic is.

Elijah:

And I think one of the things that I would say, uh, all of us that are involved in

Elijah:

this is that we're very interested in the topics and we're very interested in how

Elijah:

those things are related to the community.

Elijah:

I know that was a lot of words, uh, but I, I just wanted to kind of get that off.

Phelim:

Well, it is a labor of love and absolutely it, uh, it

Phelim:

resonates with, uh, with me at least.

Phelim:

Um, but you now have taken three of the favorite episodes away from, uh, John and

Phelim:

Sean and myself to, to, to, to celebrate.

Phelim:

So let's develop it, you know, John, uh, on top of those fine three, I think

Phelim:

we had Klaus, we had Joe Artero and we had of course the one with Sean.

Phelim:

Um, what's uh, what's been your favorite.

Jon:

All right.

Jon:

Well, of course I don't have a favorite because I'm totally impartial.

Jon:

Uh you know, but I mean, seriously, how, how do you pick

Jon:

just three out of all of those?

Jon:

I was actually running through the list just.

Jon:

And I thought I had three, but I'd only read three podcasts.

Jon:

And then I was moving down the list and I was like, this is insane.

Jon:

This, this is really difficult, but you know, so what I thought I'll

Jon:

do as a bit of a, kind of an, a get out clause here, you know, part

Jon:

partially not to offend anyone as well.

Jon:

And also because my memory doesn't go back far enough is I'm going to pick out my,

Jon:

favorite that, , Elijah was co-host on.

Jon:

Sean was a co-host on.

Jon:

Okay.

Jon:

So favorite one with Elijah was the, uh, ah, well, can I, I can't

Jon:

really say the Joe terror one now.

Jon:

Can I,

Elijah:

Yeah.

Elijah:

Say it.

Jon:

doubling up, but, but yeah, no, I, I mean, I really enjoyed that.

Jon:

It's an area for me that I find really interesting partially because I think

Jon:

there's so, so much dynamic inside of, you know, that whole subject of driving

Jon:

dynamics, but it's also an area that I probably visit the least in my own, you

Jon:

know, day to day professional career.

Jon:

And it's, you know, whenever I get the opportunity to get behind

Jon:

the wheel, It's rare that I can actually put those skills into use.

Jon:

Right?

Jon:

I mean, if we're, if we're putting in the training ground skills, then either

Jon:

something's gone really wrong or we are probably got the wrong attitude

Jon:

towards driving in, in the first place.

Jon:

But no, I, I, I love to get out there and we've had a few discussions in the,

Jon:

uh, in PBA connect and I know it's been the same over in the nav protector app.

Jon:

Uh, okay.

Jon:

Ah, dumbest I've just realized the Elijah's nabbed all the best ones.

Jon:

So, you know, without a doubt, my, my favorite one that had shown on.

Jon:

The kind of Sean interview, if you're like.

Jon:

And, uh, I know Sean feels probably quite ambushed at the moment because he didn't

Jon:

even realize he didn't even realize he was recording an episode for the podcast.

Jon:

We kind of, uh, in fact, you know, Paul, we didn't even tell Sean

Jon:

that we were gonna release that.

Jon:

Did we, uh, Yeah.

Shaun:

I

Jon:

which must have been great as you are.

Jon:

You're probably driving along in your car and you thought, ah, let's check out

Jon:

the latest episode of the podcast and, you know, to find out it's you, it's

Jon:

kind of like, uh, this is your life, but without Michael Parkinson but yeah,

Jon:

no, I, I mean, I, I really enjoyed that.

Jon:

Um, obviously I was, I was there at the event on the day

Jon:

that we extracted that audio.

Jon:

From, and, you know, it sat really well in, in that whole larger context as well.

Jon:

But, but for me getting those kind of insights and here's, here's a guy who

Jon:

I've known for, I, I don't know, like maybe, you know, 17 years or something and

Jon:

still learning stuff, listening to that.

Jon:

And also makes us realize the value that we have.

Jon:

as people, as our peers and, we try to do so much on our own and we get

Jon:

used to working in this, environment of, being worn up a lot, there, a lot

Jon:

of responsibility on our own shoulders.

Jon:

And, then maybe, sometimes this is true of myself.

Jon:

Anyway, you kind of have to pause and say, can I reach out more, can I

Jon:

either delegate, can I ask for help?

Jon:

And that's something that I often have trouble with, cuz I know

Jon:

that if I can do it, I will do it.

Jon:

And I know the standard and the level that that will be done

Jon:

at, but the bigger question is can I do all of this on my own?

Jon:

And, and more often than not, when things are piling up, the answer is no.

Jon:

And so you need to be able to reach out and like all.

Jon:

Our podcast episodes, we're really digging into not just the knowledge

Jon:

of all of our guests, but the, the deep experience that they've heard.

Jon:

And, that's why I, I love our podcast.

Elijah:

And can I, can I jump in really quick?

Elijah:

I also wanna touch on that too.

Elijah:

And the other thing is the personality, and I think that's, what's great because

Elijah:

so much of, you know, when we, I, I speak from personal experience, you know, when

Elijah:

I was learning about the industry, you know, You got a sense of what you wanted

Elijah:

to do in the profession, but you didn't necessarily have mentors or, or the,

Elijah:

, the amount of, of people that, that are actually doing it that could communicate

Elijah:

it with you where you knew them.

Elijah:

And could get the real deal from them, meaning that, you know sure.

Elijah:

Of course I might see a, a news segment or a piece, you know, from the states

Elijah:

on the United States secret service or, or see someone walking in a movement.

Elijah:

But other than just being a cipher, like, is this a real person?

Elijah:

And I think what's great about podcasts, is that you get a sense of the individual.

Elijah:

And then you can fit them into kind of the, the protective equation, you know?

Elijah:

And, and so again, why I came back to those favorites that I talk about,

Elijah:

and, and there are particularly because over the seasons, you know, I think

Elijah:

the ones that I gravitate the most are the ones where I get a sense of the.

Elijah:

The person's personality, which then impresses me even that much more because

Elijah:

I go and they're, they're doing the work.

Elijah:

So, you know, their clients are continuing to call them back and

Elijah:

put them on assignments, et cetera.

Elijah:

Uh, but they're real people, you know, at the, you know, they, they,

Elijah:

they lace their, their, the shoes up, uh, you know, uh, just like I do.

Elijah:

And, you know, and if I put the time in this certain sector or devoted this time

Elijah:

to my craft, you know, you know, with the right amount of skill and luck, etc.

Elijah:

I could, I could be where they are.

Elijah:

So all it takes is that work.

Elijah:

So again, I guess I say how to say is that they're real people

Elijah:

and listen to the podcast.

Elijah:

I can really appreciate that.

Elijah:

I, I spend a lot of time if I'm not participating in the, and even, I

Elijah:

guess even once I do, when I listen to the podcast, I listen to it on the

Elijah:

treadmill or when I'm working out.

Elijah:

And so I'm listening to this and I end up finding this connection with somebody who

Elijah:

I might just know their name via social.

Elijah:

And, and I, I think that's one of the coolest things.

Elijah:

I'm sorry.

Elijah:

I ended up cutting you off while you were talking, bro is that's one of the

Elijah:

coolest things about what we do is that we learn that people that are doing these

Elijah:

challenging jobs all over the world are real people, just like us or like me.

Elijah:

I mean, so you're kind of a superhuman, you know, in fact, all three of you guys

Elijah:

are, but me I'm just, you know, normal guy

Jon:

Yeah, right.

Jon:

And, and no, but seriously personality is really important.

Jon:

Isn't it?

Jon:

And I think it's, um, it's something that when you first

Jon:

come into the industry, with a few exceptions, maybe, personality,

Jon:

something that develops over time.

Jon:

You know, we already have one of course, but like who are we as protectors?

Jon:

What is our personality?

Jon:

What, what, you know, I, I mean, for my myself personally, the

Jon:

first thing that I strive for is a certain level of professionalism.

Jon:

And then, you know, once I feel comfortable that I found that and

Jon:

I'm operating in that area, then I think the, the personality

Jon:

starts to come through and you.

Jon:

You, you sort of find yourself in this world and you, you know, pitch

Jon:

yourself at, at a certain level.

Jon:

And I think, yeah.

Jon:

Absolutely that that's such, that's such a good point.

Jon:

We really get to see the personality of all these people who, you know, in

Jon:

one of the things that we're always trying to do, you know, and through

Jon:

all of our different channels is bring people together, connect people.

Jon:

And the podcast is such a fantastic way of exposing all of those personal.

Elijah:

I have to say, I don't think it any of the episodes.

Elijah:

If I listen to this and go, you know what?

Elijah:

This guy ends up being a real jerk.

Elijah:

. I haven't said that.

Elijah:

So that's a, I dunno if that's great editing when I'm part or what, but.

Phelim:

Well,

Phelim:

yeah, especially, especially our in-house panelists and, uh, interviewees,

Phelim:

um, which well talking about that, let's then go to Sean and, and ask a

Phelim:

similar set of questions, obviously.

Phelim:

Um, obviously it's a bit hard.

Phelim:

It's just three.

Phelim:

You can expand it to any number you.

Shaun:

No, I, I actually do have three favorites, not in any particular

Shaun:

order, but what I'd really like.

Shaun:

And I know Elijah is big on it, is the branding and networking by Craig McKim.

Shaun:

I thought that was a fantastic episode that everyone should listen to.

Shaun:

Um, you know, when you work in the industry, you are as big as your network.

Shaun:

You know, if you, if you don't network, you don't mix with people.

Shaun:

You don't.

Shaun:

You, the opportunities you get are gonna be less and how you put yourself across

Shaun:

your branding, how you present yourself is extremely important to create.

Shaun:

You know, that was a really good episode.

Shaun:

I really enjoyed that.

Shaun:

Um, the other one I really liked was listen to David Rubin's

Shaun:

professionalizing risk management.

Shaun:

You know, you get a lot of people who work in the industry.

Shaun:

You know, some people have a great deal of operation experience.

Shaun:

Some might be more academic that both, you know, is academically qualified.

Shaun:

You work in the industry and passionate about teaching and are really

Shaun:

enjoyed listening on that podcast.

Shaun:

And my third, which, you know, I love listen and do every time he speaks,

Shaun:

um, being there got the t-shirt.

Shaun:

I got Tourette.

Phelim:

Oh,

Shaun:

Corporate operations.

Shaun:

Um, you know, he is, he's worked in the industry an awful long time and he turns

Shaun:

up with all the events he speaks and he just uses experience every time he talks.

Shaun:

Um, and any podcast or any talk goes there.

Shaun:

Extremely interested in attending for sure.

Shaun:

Great guy.

Phelim:

Yeah,

Phelim:

absolutely.

Phelim:

I, I wanna deliver that.

Jon:

and what, and what about you, Paula?

Phelim:

Or me,

Jon:

have you?

Jon:

Yeah, of

Phelim:

you, you see, you see in asking, in, asking you to come up with three,

Phelim:

I realize how sned I must, uh, make you feel because you know, when I think

Phelim:

about it, I really enjoyed kicking the year off with MCO and fitness.

Phelim:

Because that's front of mind that got me going, um, of course, IVA,

Phelim:

you know, you know, who, who, who wouldn't want, uh, that episode.

Phelim:

Um, but, but, but then I think about, you know, some of the, I don't know,

Phelim:

controversial topics, you know, we had standardization, um, which should

Phelim:

be Aland topic, but actually with all the work that James Cameron is

Phelim:

doing, I thought that was very timely.

Phelim:

And.

Phelim:

It was spicy enough to get the industry talking.

Phelim:

Um, obviously David Rubins thanks to, to all, uh, your help.

Phelim:

Um, but you know, Don Holmes did a nice segment with us on diversity.

Phelim:

Um, obviously that's very, very current.

Phelim:

Um, but, but then, you know, people like Jermaine fly and, uh, all of the,

Phelim:

you know, short circuit that Elijah has been doing is really, really quite.

Phelim:

Inspiring because again, I'm not part of that, right.

Phelim:

So I can sit back, listen, and it's like a busman's holiday.

Phelim:

I can really enjoy, uh, everything that Elijah has, uh, come to

Phelim:

bear the, the, the problem.

Phelim:

I, I, I guess if I was to add more, I, I would, I would just keep on

Phelim:

going, because like, literally I'm just going up the list.

Phelim:

So if you haven't been included by me or our, our fellow cohost,

Phelim:

please, uh, do not be afraid.

Phelim:

Um, we, we, we definitely.

Phelim:

In, you know, like to include you and, and I guess we did bring in some

Phelim:

repeat, uh, you know, interviewees this time and that's Testament to

Phelim:

how much we need their voice again.

Phelim:

And again, like I know we talked about personal branding with Craig McKim and

Phelim:

that's something that you mentioned, Sean.

Phelim:

Um, but business branding, I think it just takes it that one step further.

Phelim:

Cuz there still is that debate about the gray professional.

Phelim:

There are still people trying to tell people to have zero social media presence,

Phelim:

but I think we might now agree that as long as it's totally separated from

Phelim:

what you are doing and you do it on your own time, I think that that that's,

Phelim:

that's something to be encouraged.

Phelim:

What do you think.

Jon:

Yeah.

Jon:

I mean, It's always a, a tough one, isn't it?

Jon:

And I think, myself and Sean, it's something that we've had to, battle

Jon:

with maybe, or certainly, give a lot of consideration to, from, the

Jon:

early days of when we started the BBA, a lot of what we do here can

Jon:

seem like it goes against grain.

Jon:

But the fact that we.

Jon:

always stop and check in and ask, you know, why are we doing this?

Jon:

And who are we doing this for?

Jon:

And is there value in this for those people?

Jon:

And I think long as you can always answer those questions and know the

Jon:

reasons why you're doing something and that other people are going

Jon:

benefit from it in the industry.

Jon:

then, I think that's how I assess, you know, that, how I dip my toing and assess

Jon:

the temperature, as for, the bigger picture of putting yourself out there.

Jon:

I think we know, how to balance this, it's

Jon:

assessing as you go just remaining aware.

Jon:

I think, asking yourself why you're doing it, because the time

Jon:

when it crosses the line is when it's for very selfish reasons.

Jon:

I, if it's, purely for self-promotion to get yourself ahead or even worse,

Jon:

it is when you're trying to get a leg up by knocking somebody else down.

Jon:

Now, I, I think that never pays off for the person ultimately.

Jon:

as a community, we still see that.

Jon:

And, and it certainly, within the BBA, it's, something that subtly, we've

Jon:

tried to coach people with, who maybe when they're new to the industry.

Jon:

Maybe if they've, you know, spent a lot of time on, on social media prior to coming

Jon:

in and learning the sort of etiquette of being a security professional, and,

Jon:

operating with your head above the pirate.

Phelim:

Does that, does that resonate with you, Sean?

Phelim:

What, what's your advice for the cohort out?

Shaun:

you know?

Shaun:

When you're working in this industry, particularly in this sector, you

Shaun:

you're working as a professional and people are paying you for

Shaun:

the service that you deliver.

Shaun:

So you can't be posting, crazy videos, which you might have posted when you

Shaun:

were younger, before you cut into the industry, and if you knew into

Shaun:

the industry and you're just leaving the military or whatever it is, Some

Shaun:

of the things are, are accepted.

Shaun:

They may not be accepted into this new sector that you're going into.

Shaun:

So I would definitely recommend if you just leave in the military, you

Shaun:

have a purge of your social media, professionalize everything up, and

Shaun:

you get some advice as well, and you do yours and your, your LinkedIn

Shaun:

pages or whatever you're doing as you, you're trying to yourself and

Shaun:

just make sure you are representing yourself and protecting yourself in

Shaun:

the best possible manner that you can.

Phelim:

like that.

Phelim:

And, and of course, you know, people might be saying, well, why are we talking about.

Phelim:

Professional after just having a wonderful review of our six months,

Phelim:

uh, this current, uh, season.

Phelim:

Well, uh, here's the thing.

Phelim:

You could be the next podcast guest, but if you are thinking, oh, no, uh, I am

Phelim:

concerned, uh, about how much to share.

Phelim:

I think we I'd like to reassure you that we.

Phelim:

We re we are genuinely, as John said, think about the motivation.

Phelim:

What, what is behind it?

Phelim:

We're trying to share some information.

Phelim:

We're trying to share some advice.

Phelim:

We're not trying to share OPSEC.

Phelim:

We're not trying to share, you know, celebrity clients, uh, information.

Phelim:

What we're trying to get out is a thematic approach.

Phelim:

That's why each, uh, you know, week of course, yes, we are celebrating James

Phelim:

TMA, who is from, uh, Switzerland.

Phelim:

Wonderful.

Phelim:

But we are saying.

Phelim:

Your next operation in Switzerland, and let's see how we can help you in that.

Phelim:

Um, which is, which is, which is what, what, you know, what well worth it.

Phelim:

And, and I forgot to mention, of course I, one of my favorites, max,

Phelim:

giving us travel risk management in a post COVID environment,

Phelim:

I thought that was quite nice.

Phelim:

And obviously.

Phelim:

You know that that whole topic is still up in the air.

Phelim:

Isn't it?

Phelim:

Um, but, but, but, but that's what we're trying to do.

Phelim:

Thematic additions to the circuit magazine, but of course, with

Phelim:

an eye on the current, John, what have we got coming up?

Phelim:

What do you want people to know about?

Phelim:

What, what, what should we get excited about?

Phelim:

We got six more months of season two.

Jon:

Yeah, exactly.

Jon:

We're only, you know, at the midway point and it it's also the time

Jon:

of year, when, as protectors, we tend to be more busy across.

Jon:

The industry everyone's, out and about, a lot of principles are

Jon:

taking their vacations right now, and it's a high stress time for people.

Jon:

So like, first of all, like I hope everyone gets through it.

Jon:

And comes out unscathed on the other side, again, you know, a nod to, uh,

Jon:

Christian around all those unfortunate.

Jon:

Powering is that they haven't seemed to keep themselves out of the media recently,

Jon:

but you know, in all seriousness, this is one of, one of the challenges we face.

Jon:

And I bring that up because these are things that we discuss inside of

Jon:

the community, and we, we don't do this to, to expose fault with anyone.

Jon:

We're all going to, have our screw up, things are gonna go

Jon:

wrong operationally on the job.

Jon:

And we shouldn't overly dwell on them.

Jon:

We shouldn't punish ourselves with these things, but we should learn from them.

Jon:

And if these, instances are there, they're in the public eye, then you

Jon:

know, we should look at it, critically to say, well, what went wrong?

Jon:

What can we learn?

Jon:

And what can we take away from that?

Jon:

And this is what underpins a, a lot of the, uh, the more informal.

Jon:

Of the association, so, for the rest of the year, we're gonna keep doing what we

Jon:

have been doing and, it's been a little bit quiet the last couple of months due

Jon:

to those mostly operational commitments.

Jon:

And just one on that for the listener, you might have noticed that, uh, esteemed

Jon:

us colleague Elijah has gone quiet.

Jon:

That's, you know, we haven't drugged him or anything.

Jon:

He's literally had to be pulled away for operational commitments, which I.

Jon:

You know, really highlights the nature of the team that we've got here and how we do

Jon:

need the four of us to manage, to produce all this content on, on a regular basis.

Jon:

So, looking ahead, it's a call to action to say, you know, come in, be a

Jon:

part of the community, ask questions, share your experiences, engage with.

Jon:

And, look out, there's always something new.

Jon:

Come in.

Jon:

We've got magazines, podcasts, newsletters, and more circuit events.

Phelim:

Absolutely.

Phelim:

I love it.

Phelim:

Stay safe out there.

Phelim:

You know, Sean, John, Elijah, and myself, we are looking out for you.

Phelim:

We're, you know, as best we can, but, uh, obviously with this wonderful heat

Phelim:

wave we're having, uh, you need to, uh, pay some regard to that as well.

Phelim:

So from Sean, Elijah, John, and myself, and it's, it's wonderful to have

Phelim:

all four of us, uh, here together.

Phelim:

This has been a lovely midyear review episode of the circuit magazine podcast.
